Invertebrates like octopus blend into the rubble, alongside cleverly disguised stone fish and seahorses. Jellyfish are in the area seasonally, so be sure to cover up and watch beware when relevant. If you check out the Spiegel Grove, be prepared to be met with large schools of jacks, silent stalking barracuda, the occasional bull shark, and as always large hulking goliath grouper. Look for brightly colored corals clinging to the bulk of the wreck, but make sure to keep an eye on your depth and never penetrate the lower portions of the wreck, regardless of your experience.

Padang Bai in the North East offers great diving opportunities. The local dive sites of Blue Lagoon, White Sand Beach, Jepun, Ferry Channel and Tanjung Sari are great places to see sharks, turtles and macro life. Padang Bai is also a great place to start a dive trip to Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan where Mantas can be seen all year round and mola-mola sunfish can be found in season. Tulamben and the USAT Liberty shipwreck, its signature dive site, are only one hour away by car and the diving there is great all year round. Geologically, the islands are characterized mainly by limestone and granite. They are generally covered with thick tropical growth, including rainforest, and their shorelines are punctuated by beaches, rocky headlands, and in some places, mangrove swamps.

Just off the coast of Kona is an artificially illuminated area where divers descend to the sandy observation areas. As the light attracts plankton, mantas arrive to take advantage of the feast.
The visibility is lower than that of the other sites in the area but the scenery is still beautiful. Ko Samui — known more for its beaches and nightlife than its diving, but there are some enjoyable sites nearby. Tabawan Island, Tabauawan or Pulau Tabauwan is the highest and largest of a group of heavily wooded islands lying in the southwest quadrant of Darvel Bay , Sabah. Dive sites at Lakshadweep are clustered around Agati, Kadmat and Bangaram islands. Shark Cave — features grey reef, bull, nurse and whale sharks. El Fanadir North has a reef wall down to 12 metres, then a plateau extends out to 20 metres before a drop off to below 30 metres.
Thanks to warm Gulf Stream waters, there is plenty for sharks to eat around here. That means plenty of other fish if sharks don’t really excite you. The Keys are famous for the Shipwreck Trail that you can try to cover if you’re ambitious. The level of skill does vary so you shouldn’t try to tackle the whole trail and a newcomer. Unlike some spots, Point Lobos is a little bit more exclusive. They don’t want the area over trafficked and damaged as a result.
